It's funny (as in weird) that this is the first time that Rose has had Lovins on his program. Charlie's kind of a crypto-conservative but even at that he sometimes has progressives on. At least he gave Lovins the first half to chat before going into the very important topic of luxury hotels in NYC.

More news from the nuclear pros in France. Is the fact that it has been leaking undetected for years the good news or the bad news?

New Uranium Leak Found in Frence Areva Factory - Reuters - 18 Jul 08

"French nuclear firm Areva has detected a uranium leak that could date back several years at a factory it operates in southeastern France, safety authorities said on Friday. The news came just a day after the government ordered safety tests in all the country's 19 nuclear power plants following another leak at an Areva installation earlier this month."

"Areva, a state-controlled company which makes nuclear reactors and deals with uranium, said the leak came from a buried pipe transporting liquid uranium and that the crack in the tubing was 'several years old'."

Follow on effects of the last national election cycle over there. Going to a more traditional leadership structure is probably a good move. It would probably be a good thing in the States as well but don't hold your breath on that one.

Green Councillor Seeks National Role - EDP24 - 18 Jul 08

"Adrian Ramsay, leader of the opposition Green group at Norwich City Council, will today throw his hat into the ring to contest the new deputy post. The 26-year-old has helped steer the city Greens to become the largest group in the country and the second party at City Hall with 13 seats, just two behind Labour. He said, if elected, he would campaign on issues such as tackling fuel poverty and rising costs of living, and cheaper and more reliable public transport.

Last autumn, Green Party members voted to change the party's constitution and elect a leader and deputy or co-leaders for the first time. Green Euro-MP Caroline Lucas, is widely expected to become the first ever Green Party leader. Adrian Ramsay is hoping to be her deputy."
