Why in the world isn't the Obama camp bringing this up? There must be some tactical reason for the silence on Palin's own connections. I feel almost sick with fear that Obama is going to get swiftboated into a loss, like Kerry was.
Well, it's clear that's where McCain is going now that all else has failed. It may be the next thing to be cued up but you have to make sure that what they are doing isn't hurting them more than helping them. Like when Bush, Sr. started calling Gore the "Ozone Man" towards the end of the race.
If they aren't getting any traction (and they have polling people and focus groups to tell them if that's working) then you stick with the high road and let them look like asses for going there. You look presidential, calm, cool and collected.
BTW, the Obama people are running Keating Five ads so they aren't just potted plants in this negative area either. And that one connected directly to the current financial fiasco.
This is a much different time than when the Swift Boat stuff came out. People are watching their savings being vaporized daily in the markets. This is not going to be easily distracted by some old radical nonsense and smear business, imo, like with the Bill Ayers story line.
I'm registered with my.barackobama.com, so I'm aware of the Keating Five ad campaign and video - that's a relief. I'm also a moveon.org, truthout.com, and huffingtonpost.com subscriber. Between those four sources, I'm covered pretty well on what Barack's campaign is doing; I haven't seen a response to the Ayers tactic, so I was wondering about that, specifically. I agree that taking the high road is a good response, in itself. Barack has certainly behaved like a gentleman throughout this race, which is perhaps the best indication of his excellent fit for the Presidency, in my view. At the same time, he's commanding, confident, and strong. You're right - he exudes presidentiality (if that's not a word, then it is now). I'm going to allow myself to be heartened by your assurance that times are different enough that the smear campaign will fail. =)

Only time will tell of course. :)
