Reports from four different countries. Of course if India signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), as Iran has, they wouldn't have a fuel shortage problem.

Unit 1 Down - TVA Nuclear Plants Power at 50% - Istockanalyst.com - 09 Aug 08

"The Tennessee Valley Authority shut down Browns Ferry Unit 1 on Friday after reducing it and the other two units to half power Thursday. TVA also shut down Watts Bar Nuclear Plant on Thursday after dropping it to half power Wednesday. Of six nuclear plants in the TVA system, only two -- both at Sequoyah -- are operating at full power. Systemwide, TVA's nuclear power generation is at half-mast."

Nuclear Share of Electricity Output Falls to 15 Percent - Times (UK) - 08 Aug 08

"The share of electricity generated by Britain's nuclear power stations has fallen to 15 per cent of total demand - its lowest level in 21 years - government figures indicate. The decline from a peak of about 30 per cent in 1996 has resulted from a string of technical problems with British Energy's ageing reactors and the scheduled closure of plants."

How the N-Deal Will Play Out - Livemint (India) - 05 Aug 08

". . . the four newest nuclear power plants in France in their first four years have averaged only 45% in energy availability."

Atomic Power Generation Waits for Nuke Deal Cue - The Hindu - 31 Jul 08

"There is no better time than now for the Indo-US nuclear deal to come through, as atomic power plants are running at less than 50 per cent of their capacity for want of fuel, feel Power Ministry officials. "

"The fuel shortage at present is so acute that some of the nuclear power plants were closed down a couple of months ago."

Thanks, buddy! Hugs back at ya!

We'll all look forward to hearing new stories from the heart of Michigan. Even if they may not quite along the lines of Eric Sevareid's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Sevareid) "Not Too Wild a Dream" which discussed his youthful adventures in a still uncharted Hudson Bay area.

(Yes, I am talking about old dead people you may never have heard of for a reason in these last couple of posts. [grin])

Thank you!

It will be my first time in Michigan (and second time in the midwest), so I'm sure I'll have something to say about it. =)

It has started raining here. Hope you have nice weather up in the more northerly parts.

I'll never forget the first time I flew into Detroit. We landed at an old style airport that had the stairs roll up to the plane and we walked a short distance into the airport. That was back in about 1969. A whole different world.

Thanks... I hope it's nice weather, but I'm bringing an umbrella in case it rains. Not to mention considerable warming clothing than I'm used to wearing here (for evenings/nights). =)

Did you know that San Jose International Airport still uses those rolling ladders when you land from Phoenix? haha! It's such a trip (no pun intended).

Good night, Dennis... time to jump in the shower and get ready for bed. Sweet dreams!

Good idea. It might be a bit nippy.

No, I've never seen those although I've flown into San Jose a couple times on Southwest. It's the cheap way to get from Nebraska to California.

I think they may have used them on some Air Wisconsin flights I've taken from LAX.

Schlaf gut! :)
