I feared this might happen. Obama continues to dull his edge. It's like a death wish with the Democrats.

Seems to me he could have helped things along quite a bit more with a pick of Sebelius or Richardson.

Richardson would have been my preference because he's very experienced, including executive experience, and could have pulled in the Latino vote. New Mexico would have been a surer bet and he might have been able to pull in Texas which would be a show stopper.

Sebelius would have been taking a bit more of a risk because she's a woman and she's not all that experienced beyond being the Governor of Kansas. And I don't think she could have pulled Kansas over to Obama.

On the good side, it could have been a LOT worse. Biden has had some decent positions but it's a very mixed bag.

Here's a somewhat bizarre bit of Biden-based politics. He's very much a mixed bag, imo.

Secret History of the Credit Card - PBS

"NOW Legal Defense [now called Legal Momentum] also offered its very public support to Senator Joseph Biden, featuring him as women's strongest ally in the Senate because he supported the Violence Against Women Act. Apparently, his support of this bill trumped any concerns the group might have had over the fact that Senator Biden is 'the leading Democratic proponent' and 'one of the . . . strongest supporters' of the very bankruptcy bill against which NOW Legal Defense had fought so hard."

Violence Against Women Act - Wikipedia

"VAWA was drafted by Senator Joseph Biden's office with support from a number of advocacy organizations including Legal Momentum and The National Organization for Women, which heralded the bill as 'the greatest breakthrough in civil rights for women in nearly two decades.'"

Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act - Wikipedia

Jinchi: Joe Biden on the Bankruptcy Bill: He Did it For the Children - 27 Mar 08

"In 2005, Joe Biden, the Democratic Senator from Delaware (home the world's largest issuer of credit cards) was a central figure lobbying for passage of S.256 the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. This is the bill that stripped away many of the protections individuals had when falling into bankruptcy. Amendments to protect victims of identity theft, and those who fell into debt due to medical or natural catastrophes, and to provide homestead exemptions were all rejected."

"Despite the fact that this bill was written explicitly to the desires of the credit card industry, Joe Biden stood on the Senate floor and declared that this was a bill designed to protect women and their dependent children from deadbeat dads . . ."
