Fandom comes to "Sex in the City". I have to admit to this show being a guilty pleasure. I also like "Project Runway" for that matter. Maybe I missed my calling.

Okay friends list, how many of you think this is a correct analysis?

The "Sex and the City" Movie Becomes a Girl's Night Out - LA Times - 31 May 08

"'The smart men use the show to figure out what's going on in the minds of women. And then they're better with women,' Gazazyan said.

More fun here . . . )

Frankly, I've always thought those needle nosed items were direct decendents of the Wicked Witch of the West shoes. You make the call.

I expect a lot of this good news in the near future now that there's no turning back to cheap fossil fuels.

Cheap Solar Power Now Within Reach, Says Study - Sify.com - 30 May 08

"It has been called the holy grail of the modern era - cheap solar energy. And scientists say it may be within our grasp soon. Queensland University team has grown the world's first titanium oxide nano crystals that are likely to revolutionise the way solar energy is harvested and used. Creating these highly efficient miniature crystals with large reactive surfaces was thought of as impossible by most scientists.

And more of this from the nuclear head fake crowd. ([livejournal.com profile] markmc03, you might find this of particular interest.)

Italy's Nuclear Job (Opinion by Henry Sokolski) - WSJ - 30 May 08

"Last week, recently re-elected Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi made good on his campaign pledge to recommit Italy to nuclear power. This seemed just the thing to address the country's rising oil and gas prices and growing French electricity imports -- except for one thing: Mr. Berlusconi's promised nuclear power plants are unlikely to ever be built.

Why? Three reasons: skyrocketing construction costs; projected build times of one to two decades; and no identifiable Italian community willing to see a nuclear reactor built in their neighborhood.

Are these dour antinuclear projections coming from the greens? No, just the opposite. The latest industry estimate from E.On, a German energy giant working on a large nuclear power plant in Finland, puts the construction cost at €6 billion per plant. Florida Power and Light, a major U.S. electrical utility, came up with a similar number. That's easily 10 times the construction cost of a modern gas-fired plant yielding the same amount of energy. These numbers, it should be noted, only cover the plant's construction, not nuclear waste management or plant operating expenses."

And this blurb on my more recent predictions on how this is going to all pan out. Follow the money.
