This is the last year to get a Giant Lite electric bike and I’m tempted to buy one before they stop making them. Evidently they are an excellent piece of equipment. Also gasoline will not likely be getting any cheaper, nor the planet any cooler.

I like biking downtown but don’t like showing up like a sweatball after doing a couple of the hills on the way over. Especially when it’s hot and humid out (aka most of the summer and fall).

The eZee bikes look pretty nice too but they don’t rank quite as high by a reviewing group. The little folder is tempting though for the price and the compact nature of it. Also they have all the touring gear for a work bike (lights, fenders, rack, etc.) included in the price unlike the Lite.

The nice thing about the testimonials is how much fun the correspondents seem to be having. Especially those who have health or fitness issues that might otherwise keep them from regular cycling. Al Gore would be pleased.

Nice electric trike for more stability.
A dealer for electric bikes the NYC area:
Electric Bikes Reviewed (UK)

(Sorry, Orval! Only two stars for EV Global. )

Finally, for a tight budget, the Currie Tech Mongoose bike for $300 (plus $60 shipping) from Target, might be a good option. Just the Currie electric conversion kit can cost about that much without the bike attached to it. About twice as heavy as the Giant Lite however and rider weight limitations.
