I was just thinking about re-reading Lovin's classic "Soft Energy Paths: Toward a Durable Peace", written in the 1970s, to see how well it holds up. I'm thinking probably pretty well. He's gone a bit libertarian in his old age but I suppose that helps when wanting to get corporate consulting gigs from conservative type CEOs and such.

His latest response to the menace of nuclear power. His segment is in the second half of the show. (43rd minute)

Amory Lovins: Expanding Nuclear Power Makes Climate Change Worse - Democracy Now! - 16 Jul 08

Lovins notes that Moody's is claiming that new nukes will run $7,500 per kW installed which is multiples of what the industry has been saying. The cost of power from such plants would be around 15 cents per kWh. He also notes that nukes are three times as expensive as wind which is why wind installations are booming while the nuclear "renaissance" is still long on hype and short on projects.
