webfarmerI've been rather fond of the nukes planted at the bottom of bays idea. They obviously will never have a cooling problem. If you could plant them over tectonic plates, you could solve the waste disposal too. It's all so perfect.
Perhaps the energy experts in South Africa should look at how fast California was able to rapidly and dramatically shed baseload demands (with no new plants) by changes in their rates and focusing on conservation shortly after their own "energy crisis". I know, that's just too easy.

Date: 2008-02-01 05:56 am (UTC)After all, it was Californians who, two times, agreed to the stupid deregulation that got them into trouble in the first place. The only groups against it were consumer groups. They were the only ones who weren't bought off in the deal too.
As I recall, it wasn't until Diablo Canyon went bad that the moratorium on new plants (because of no place for the waste) came to be.
