Scotland's Energy - Physical and Human

An interesting article with an associated 34 minute podcast. Reporter Lesley Riddoch cracks the whip in this one. Also lovely accents to this Midwestern ear.

Harnessing Scotland's Energy - Guardian (UK) - 29 Dec 08

"The case for Scottish independence has always been linked to the exploitation of oil. But I'm arguing that the country won't be able to consider going it alone until it harnesses an even more important resource - its inventive people.

Scotland should be the Saudi Arabia of renewable energy - but although our marine and wind resource is enormous, there's been objection and hesitation instead of headlong progress. Why?"

Actually, they should harness the energy of Scotsmen weaving their way back home after a few too many sips of the whiskey. (I can say this because it forms a significant part of my own heritage ... and the whiskey part too ;) )

I do what I can. Facebook is so much less work to post on, I fear it may suck me completely out of LJ at times.

Checking out your stuff now. :)
