Tina Fey Lands the First Punch at Sarah Palin in Saturday Night Live Sketch - Telegraph (UK) - 14 Sep 08

"On board Mrs Palin's campaign plane, journalists were told by stewards that she was watching in the VIP section of the charter's satellite TV system. As reporters howled with laughter during the five-minute skit, there was reportedly silence from the front of the plane."

It is very excellent. Hopefully it goes viral as hell.

Ouch. I'll bet there wasn't much laughter at the Clinton house, either.

Didn't they used to call it the "Powell Doctrine?"

I have a feeling that Hillary can laugh at such things by now. Bill might be still be a bit cranky however. That's just a guess.

As I understood it, the "Powell Doctrine" meant, at least in part, that if you were going to get involved militarily, you used disproportionate force and had an exit plan. More on Wikipedia.

All pretty far from either Afghanistan or Iraq, Part Deax in the Bush II era.

My take on the "Bush Doctrine" was about pre-preemptive strikes on potential threats. Again, Wikipedia goes into a lot more details.

Frankly, these things seem to be PR and media creations rather than some kind of official definition. I suppose this "doctrine" business got its start with Monroe and since then presidents and/or newspapers like having their own.

LOL I hope it's true that Palin wasn't amused.

One can only hope. :)
