Now Over to You
Nov. 4th, 2008 10:32 amI dooded it.
Not much of a line. Quite a few old-timers with walkers and such just short of 10:00 am. When I got in line I said to the folks ahead of me, "Is this the line for the free Starbucks?". A good looking black gal who had already voted but was helping an elderly gentleman (perhaps her dad) turned around and said no but if I wanted to go get them some that would be good. I replied I'd have to get my voting sticker first.
The old fellow directly in front of me piped in that he had heard on Fox that there were all kinds of freebies for voting going on today including hair cuts. I mentioned that I'd heard Krispy Kreme was giving away free donuts for a sticker.
As usual there were items like the judges that I didn't vote for. Ended up voting for at least one candidate from three different parties which was a first for me. No Nebraska Party candidates got the nod.
Little hope for Obama in this district. Hope it helps to put him over the 50% mark nationally. The most important votes were for constitutional amendments (one to ban affirmative action) and the two public power seats. My one Republican vote went for the officially non-partisan state senator who seems to me to have done largely non-partisan due diligence in other public offices. The Democrat they put up just wasn't up to snuff.
