Hey, Ralphie Boy!
Feb. 23rd, 2008 11:11 amAs some of you know, I'm older than dirt and have been involved in proto-Green to outright Green politics for quite a while now. It's still an on-going interest of mine although I'm a registered independent. Lately I've been thinking about where the Greens (in the USA at least) have gone wrong and what would need to be done to right the political ship.
( More political stuff behind cut . . . )
At any rate, Nader seems to be more interested in the Green ballot line than the Green Party and I would encourage people to vote for or against the guy appropriately. I'm not expecting any Super Rally action if he does get the Green Party nod (however that is supposed to happen since he kind of sorta isn't really running as a Green, once again). One more of those little details that needs to be resolved within the Green Party for it to move ahead in something approaching a rational fashion nationally.
Obama should suck all the oxygen out of any Green campaign. Back to sub-digit returns in 2008 for the Greens no matter who they run.

"Longtime associates said they think the consumer advocate will announce his candidacy. Having abandoned the Green Party after being its nominee in 2000, he's more likely to run as an independent again, those familiar with his thinking said. Kevin Zeese, Mr. Nader's 2004 campaign spokesman, who isn't involved in the 2008 exploratory efforts, said he thinks Mr. Nader will throw his hat in the ring again."
