I just got an e-mail from a friend of mine on the city's public utility board.  In spite of the city council trimming back the utility rates by a half of a percent, which was to be used for sustainable energy programming, it appears that the utility will be re-balancing their budget to still provide some funds towards that end.  A little bit of encouraging news to start out the week.  Resistance may not be futile.

Did my usual periodic raiding of the "previously viewed" section of Blockbuster as I came home from visiting family last night.  Picked up "Sicko", "La Vie En Rose", "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars", "Peaceful Warrior", "Breach", "American Gigolo", "Factory Girl", "The Lives of Others", "X2: X-Men United", "Farscape: Premiere / I, E.T.", and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".  Three were 3 for 20 but the rest were 4 for 20s.  About 40 bucks more than I'd planned on spending but I couldn't bring myself to trimming out four of them so a couple came along for the ride.

Watched  "La Vie En Rose: The Extraordinary Life of Edith Piaf" last night after coming home (and watching the latest "Brothers and Sisters" which is a guilty pleasure).  Interesting story.  The jumping around in the time line was a bit overdone but was endurable.  Good work by the actress playing Piaf, Marion Cotillard.  I'd give it a thumbs up.
