I don't have an insult that's really up to snuff for the latest Bush policy making.  The Democrats aren't a whole lot better on the nuclear issue as the LA Times notes.  At least Hillary says she's "agnostic" on nuclear whereas Obama is using boilerplate where it "needs to be part of the mix".

U.S. Budget Boosts Coal and Nuclear Power - Christian Science Monitor - 07 Feb 08

"U.S. budget boosts coal and nuclear power. Bush's budget request Monday cut funding for renewable energy, but increased spending for science."

Bush Asks For More Physics - Again - Nature - 05 Feb 08

"At the DOE, the president’s budget would boost spending for ‘clean-coal’ technologies from $520 million to $648 million, even though the department is pulling the plug on FutureGen, a flagship carbon-capture and -storage project. Nuclear energy would increase from $755 million to $932 million including $302 million for reprocessing technologies related to the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership, over which Bush and Congress have battled."

Nuclear Interests Pull a Big Switch - LA Times - 03 Feb 08

"Obama is the largest beneficiary of money from companies that have a stake in nuclear energy's future. The Braidwood plant's owner, Exelon Corp., has donated $275,000 to Obama over his career.  Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a co-author on the 2006 bill, is the second-largest recipient. Neither candidate has come out in opposition to nuclear power, unlike their onetime rival, former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina."

"But with nine months left in the campaign, the current total of $830,000 already approaches what employees at the firms spent in the entire campaign four years ago.  Democrats have received the bulk -- $536,000 to Republicans' $294,000, a Times analysis of Federal Election Commission records shows. That is a shift from the last two presidential elections, when George W. Bush received 3 1/2 times the amount collected by his Democratic foes, Al Gore and John F. Kerry."
