BookTV.org via C-SPAN had an interesting if somewhat uneven interview with Naomi Klein last weekend.

Naomi Klein vs. Alan Greenspan on Democracy Now! was also pretty interesting as well as the recent follow-up to that interview.

"Alan Greenspan vs. Naomi Klein on the Iraq War, Bush's Tax Cuts, Economic Populism, Crony Capitalism and More"

"'Mr. Greenspan is Flat Wrong': Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalists Respond to Alan Greenspan's Claim that He Didn't Know about Federal Reserve's Role in Iraq's Missing Billions"

Lots of good stuff for political folks of the left and right on BookTV.org lately.  Ayn Rand focus coming up after a lengthy piece on
David Horowitz.

Our View on Nuclear Security: Asleep on the Job - USA Today - 11 Oct 07

"This March, an anonymous whistle-blower sent a letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, warning that guards at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania were routinely sleeping on the job. The letter writer said he was writing on behalf of other guards who were tired of covering up for their colleagues. He begged the NRC to do something and even suggested five ways to catch the sleepers, who are supposed to be on constant alert to repel terrorist attacks.

For months, nothing happened. Then a frustrated guard surreptitiously videotaped several dozing colleagues and gave the tape to WCBS-TV in New York City, which aired it late last month. With that, all hell broke loose."

And now, in contrast, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) tells public to go back to sleep.  Maybe they're putting in a cooler with some Jolt! cola to "stimulate" the guards.

NRC: Sleeping Guards Didn't Hurt Security at Peach Bottom - York Daily Record - 9 Oct 07

"The office determined that there were missed opportunities by security advisers to identify the inattentiveness, and that the company failed to provide sufficient stimuli to the guards.  But the office did not find that the security at the plant was degraded because of the inattentiveness.  Gamberoni's office determined that the security program at Peach Bottom provided reasonable insurance that the health and safety of the public was adequately protected."
