Hats off to John Hansen, Sen. Cap Dierks and all the other good folks who worked so hard to make this law a reality.

Heineman Endorses Community-owned Wind Turbines - North Platte Telegraph

"Gov. Heineman signed a bill Monday encouraging communities to develop the wind turbines that generate electricity.

The new law financially encourages towns and landowners to develop a "field" of turbines, working in conjunction with Nebraska's public power companies.

Under that model, rural Nebraskans would own the development and not sell the wind rights to private companies.

The bill recently passed the Legislature, 49-0."

There's a Michael Moore SF movie in this somewhere.  Maybe a sequel to "They Live".

This Modern World: A New Republican Candidate!

And a trip down memory lane.

Had an interesting time at a noontime get together at a friend's house that included a telephone presention and Q&A with a fellow from the Rocky Mountain Institute. Very interesting take on things there. Am looking forward to looking over the associated documentation with my usual jaundiced eye. Nice to meet all the folks at that gathering and look forward to the next one.

Nicked up my back a bit today so decided to pass on some planned activities this evening to stay home with takeout and watching the finales of American Idol (which I rarely watch) and Dancing with the Stars (which is a guilty pleasure). Both of my favorites in those contests won which made me feel a little better on the day. Both richly deserved to win.
