Michael Moore is in Cannes with his latest advocacy film. Sounds like this one will stir things up even more than the last couple since almost everyone is irritated by the medical system.

I hope he was more careful with the fact checking this time around. Far too often he goes where he really needs not to go. Kind of like Nixon with Watergate when he already had a huge lead against McGovern. It's like an itch he can't not scratch.

US Government Trying to Seize New Michael Moore Film, Says Producer - The Guardian

"Moore's underlying thesis in Sicko relates to the structure of American society. 'Others see themselves as a collective that sinks or swims together,' he told Variety.

'It's important to have a safety net and free universal health care. In America, unfortunately, we're more focused on what's in it for me. It's every man for himself. If you're sick and have lost a job, it's not my problem. Don't bother me.'

The insurance companies are a negative force, he believes. 'They get in the way of taking care of those who are ill. They make it worse. We don't need them,' he said.

The health secretary, Patricia Hewitt, may be surprised by Moore's ringing - if strictly speaking, factually inaccurate - endorsement for the NHS. "The poorest Brit is healthier and lives longer than the wealthiest American," he said.

Of his journalistic style, he said: 'It's the op-ed page. You don't say that's not journalism. I present my opinion, my take on things, based on indisputable facts. They could be wrong. I think they're right.'"

I consider Dr. Laura to be a seriously deviant individual who takes advantage of people when they're at their weakest. To be labeled as a "family values" individual only makes it all the more nauseating an act.

We'll see if this story about her "family valued" kid pans out. It would be interesting if this kind of activity is one of the key motivations for the recent shutting down of troop access to MySpace and YouTube connections by the military. (Warning: The rest of the first SLT report is pretty sickening.)

Dr. Laura Son Linked to Lurid Web Page - Salt Lake Tribune

"The soldier son of talk radio relationship counselor Laura Schlessinger is under investigation for a graphic personal Web page that one Army official has called 'repulsive.'"

Dr. Laura to Army Wives: Stop Whining - Salt Lake Tribune

" Raging radio relationship guru Laura Schlessinger says she is tired of hearing the complaints of lonely and overwhelmed military wives whose husbands are deployed.

'He could come back without arms, legs or eyeballs, and you're bitching?' Schlessinger asked before taking the stage at the Fort Douglas base theater today. 'You're not dodging bullets, so I don't want to hear any whining - that's my message to them,' she added.

Schlessinger was in Salt Lake City to host her nationally syndicated radio program, a program that focuses on ethics, morals and values."
