Which Way New Web Sites?

Okay this looks like the week that was at last.  Time for the showdowns between Joomla!, Drupal and perhaps....Plone

Actually got a nice freebie offer of a home and setup for a Plone site or would likely cut the chase down to just Joomla! and Drupal for open-source Content Management Systems (CMS).  The control freak in me has me, perhaps unwisely, veering towards Joomla! and Drupal.

What are Content Management Systems you say?  My definition is that they provide the guts of a web portal instead of having to build the whole mess from scratch.  Flop one of these up on an appropriately configured server and start tweaking the details.  Less wheel reinvention.

Joomla! looks the easiest but Drupal looks like the more full featured and supported.   Django has also been mentioned to me but I'm draggin' on checking it out for some unknown reason.

Spring Sprung?

This winter has been brutal.  The last couple of days we've had of blizzard was hopefully the final insult to injury for the unrelenting gauntlet of nasty stuff we've run since the first of the year.

Fortunately, today is sunny, calm and a high of 46 degrees Fahrenheit is predicted.  Maybe this really is the first day of the rest of my year.
