Trim a few pounds off the e-bike and rider. Especially the rider. In Switzerland. And you get...

It uses the same kind of gearmotor drive that my bike uses. No, don't freak out. The blue tube things with the backpack are batteries. More at bike-elektro-antrieb.ch's website. [In German.] Nice photos.

I notice he's not wearing a helmet. Tsk tsk. It's the law in BC.

The battery pack looks like a starter kit for islamic extremists. I wouldn't want to wear it around London, for example. Certainly, not around Baghdad. That kind of thing could get you shot!

But otherwise ... interesting concept.

I don't think there's a bike helmet law in Nebraska or in Lincoln. I'd say about half the folks wear them. I wouldn't get on a bike without one these days.

I also have the nice little skull cap kind of stretch cap that goes on before you put the helmet on to keep the bald el Domo warmer than it would otherwise be. Today was kind of a cold (40s) and windy (20s) day and I have nice red cheeks from it. My head was just warm enough though. Once I got pumping the heating took care of itself for the most part.

Yes, the battery packs look like terror weapons which is why I added the "No, don't freak out." line. I'm not sure how you'd improve that situation as I think they probably are like D cells all strung together.

I do feel a bit like that guy at certain times when riding my bike. When the little 250 watt motor gets wound up into the higher speeds, it really does a nice job and you do feel like you're zipping along. :)
