I've been listening to Charo Radio on Pandora.com and decided to check out her Wikipedia entry. Found this great bit of upcoming event news. This just seems perfect to me.

"Charo will be a Celebrity Grand Marshal of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade on Sunday, June 29, 2008. She will be accompanied by hordes of Charo look-alikes on a pink float."

(Unfortunately, Pandora.com isn't available outside the USA presently. And Meemix.com doesn't seem to have Charo on their listing. Here are some videos from her web site.)

The matchup seemed perfect to me. After all, she's a bit over-the-top by design.

I haven't seen her in years on television. Usually it was on Hollywood Squares or the Love Boat or some such thing and not with her actually performing.

I've not seen enough of her guitar playing to know if she's really all that good or is just adequate. Her singing seemed fine to me.

The more I've looked into this, the more I've found that Charo really is quite the artist with the guitar. Even studied under Segovia in her youth. I'm enjoying the selections that Pandora.com has served. Sometimes a little too much pop influence for me but quite talented none the less.
